The “Young Barristers” regarding an article published in the Batumelebi newspaper

6 April, 2015

The organizations “Young Barristers” responds to the article published through the web page of the Batumelebi newspaper. The article is about the protest campaign, arranged at the Constitutional Court of Georgia on April 6, 2015. According to the organization, such a title for the article, on behalf of the respected publication does not  comply with  the real spirit of an event.  According to the publication: “The Chair of the Constitutional Court of Georgia is threatened  with retaliation”. This is the wrong interpretation of the campaign. Such statements were not made  neither by representatives of the “Young Barristers”, nor by Ronald Bladadze’s  lawyers .  The journalist manipulates with the following quotation by the human rights defender, Merab Bladadze: “The house is illegally confiscated and   such a captious case should not be left to your children,  as we are not going to give up and will fight till the end, no matter how many years will pass. We refer to  the government, to pay proper attention to the issue, in order to avoid  implementation of the people’s trial.” We think that, this quotation should not be equated  with any kind of  threat against the Chair of the Constitutional Court of Georgia. Merab Bladadze is the human rights defender and his announcements, due to the urgency of the issue,   intended  to underline an importance of restoration justice. Despite this, the organization,  defenders of Ronald Bladadze’s legal interests and the Bladadze’s family, do not share such claims, as the real  essence of  the party’s legal interest is completely different. Accordingly, we appeal to the media, that  different opinions regarding the case may exist, but the only position, officially expressed on behalf of Roland Bladadze, is that of the barristers – Nana Tsuladze and Archil Kaikatsishvili- the defenders of his legal interests . We believe that despite the opinions, expressed  by certain interested persons, the journalist should assess the true  context of the announcement, in order not to mislead the society. We would like to mention, that the Batumelebi newspaper is one of the signatories of the Charter of Journalistic Ethics and their journalists always follow media standards for objective media coverage.
