The “Young Barristers” appeals to the Patarkatsishvili’s family – the owner of “Imedi” TV

5 April, 2015

The organization “Young Barristers”  appeals to the Patarkatsishvili’s  family _ the owner of “Imedi” TV, with the request to pay proper attention to the attitude of the TV Channel  to an intentional blocking  of Roland Bladadze’s case within the process of restoring justice in the country. As the organization had stated during the special statement of April 4, 2015, due to the fact that the case concerns the implementation of  legal activities towards the Chair of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Giorgi Papuashvili, “Imedi” TV  has not broadcasted any of the press-conferences provided by the organization regarding the issue. Neither have  Roland Bladadze’s barristers  been invited to participate in the programs : “Imedis Kvira” or “Reakcia”,  while the discussion was regarding the cases of  property  confiscations . The organization links such tendentiousness of  “Imedi” TV  to the factor of Eka Khoferia, the journalist of “Imedi” TV and the relative of Giorgi papuashvilis’s family, specifically  Giorgi Papuashvili’s sister-in-law.

“We appeal to the  Patarkatsishvili’s family, the owner of “Imedi” TV, to allow Roland Bladadze’s barristers participate in the programs : “Imedis Kvira” and “Reakcia” , discussing the issue of restoring justice with respect of the legality of  property confiscations. We declare  with full responsibility , especially for independent  Television owners, that due to the journalist Eka Khoferia, the case of Giorgi Papuashvili is tabooed on behalf of the channel. The journalist Inga Grigolia also refrains from the case discussion. It should be noted, that despite the fact , that  journalists of “Imedi” TV have always attended briefings by the organization regarding Roland Bladadze, none of these briefings has been ever broadcasted by them.”_ stated the special statement of April 4, 2015 by the organization.

The organization “Young Barristers” announces, that the press-conference of April 4, 2015 at the press-club “Pirveli”,  was attended by  “Imedi” TV journalists  as well, however,  the briefing  has not been broadcasted. This fact makes us  think, that the Channel makes the full recording of the statements regarding Giorgi Papuashvili, just in order to provide him with complete information in record of the case. This  directly contradicts the principles of an  independent Television and accordingly undermines the trust towards the certain journalists and the Channel itself.
