2014 year in the work of the “Young Barristers” was distinctive, landmark and productive

The “Young Baaristers” summarized activities and presented in the form of a special annual report implemented activities, briefings, projects, research, meetings, conferences, visits, legislative initiatives, well-known cases in proceedings, publications and correspondence statistics.

According to statement of co-founder and chief-ecexutive of the “Young Barristers” – Archil Kaikatshvili, 2014 year, in the work of the “Young Barristers” was distinctive, landmark and productive.

  • Prepared 77 press conference, made 108 public statement, published 6 research, conducted 4 monitoring, conducted 2 sociological surveys, 9 conferences/round tables, 3 projects have been implemented;
  • 353 correspondence were sent to public agencies, was provided 140 free consultation, public agencies were sent more than 20 recommendations;
  • Won oer 22 cases in various instances of court, more than 10 cases are under review;
  • He organization estimates, the year 2014 was exceptional in terms of planned public awareness campaigns, with  different sociological surveys;
  • In the framework of initiative of the organization: “Institutional Dialogue with the Executive, Legislative, Judicial Authorities” met with various public authorities;
  • Signed Memorandum of Understanding with the New University and Georgian Bar Association;
  • The organization proposed to the Parliament of Georgia a legislative initiative which concerns amendments and changes in the Labor Code of Georgia by creation of a new legislative regulation about internship.

The “Young Barristers” in 2014, prepared the following research: “Khudonhess project judicial analysis. What we know and what we should know about the legal aspects of the project"; “Georgian ranking companies in the process of implementation of the new Labour Code’s standards”; “Legal status of mothers employed in private sector, analysis of the issue and recommendations"; “Unknown one million GEL. Analysis of the issue of transparency of financial resources received at a charity dinner held in Tbilisi after 2008 August war; „System against the citizen. The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia lives in illegally deprived property“; „Sakdrisi-Kachaghiani monument legal analysis”.

The “Young Barristers” by the decision of Children and Youth Development Foundation won the nomination of “the most active non-governmental organization of 2014”. Co-founder and chief-executive of the organization – Archil Kaikatsishvili, became the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Human Rights Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. Archil Kaikatsishvili was named as the best young human rights defender of 2014 year by survey of the newspaper “Banks and Finances”.

The final event of the organization, attended by government officials, experts, heads of the Bar Association, various non-governmental organizations, friends and partners of the “Young Barristers”. The organization will continue its work of a new strategic document from 2015.
