13 May, 2014

Non-governmental organization the “Young Barristers” will implement a project “Together for an European choice” for youth representatives of ethnic minorities.

The organization will inform the youth of ethnic minorities of Marneuli and Akhaltsikhe municipalities of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions on processes of integration of Georgia in Europe, changes and expectations, as well as will hold public lectures concerning Georgia-Europe relationship and will present institutional stability and advantages of European choice of Georgia through dialogues with civil groups.

In process of project implementation, the “Young Barristers” will provide active communication with educational and professional institutions, youth organizations of non-Georgian regions; will prepare meetings with them, hold a public lecture on the topic and will publish an informative newspaper concerning the European choice of Georgia. The participants of the project will themselves hand out newspapers to the local community. In addition, the organization will set up a competition of analytic articles on topic: “Georgian on the way to Europe”, form a competition committee and prepare a final conference in chosen regions. The organization will publish the winner articles and reward authors of winning essays. The project encloses cooperation with governmental authorities and international organizations in Georgia.

According to evaluations of the organization, the European choice of Georgia is a historic moment and an inclusion of youth in the process of creating a new social self-consciousness, order and a social environment represents a defining factor. In order to solve the problem, the youth must be informed on goods and importance of the European choice.

In addition to this, the organization evaluates stereotypes concerning the European integration as a risk factor.

A lot of false interpretations present the relationship with Europe as an indication of compromised sovereignty and traditions along with Russia-Georgian relationship which hinders the process of integration. Based on evaluations of the project authors, the risk factors mentioned above will be eradicated and diverse activities of the project, direct participation of the youth in the initiative, subjective discussion on every challenge creates opportunity of right attitude.

The project will be implemented in the following dates: 05/05/2014 – 05/09.2014. The project will be implemented in frames of grant project of “Children and Youth Development Fund”.
