The “Young Barristers” join commission of Lawyers’ rights

Non-governmental organization the “Young Barristers” will participate as a full member of commission of Lawyers’ rights by Georgian Bar Association. First session of Georgian Bar Association was held on February 3rd 2014 attended by headmasters of the organization Marika Arevadze and Tinatin Nibloshvili. As stated in the beginning of commission’s activities by head of Georgian Bar Association– Zaza Khatiashvili, international support and interest for strengthening, developing and securing lawyers’ institute has been intensively increasing.

Commission of Lawyers’ rights created two groups, correspondingly the first one will work on issues concerning international practice on institutional security of lawyers on legislative level and will prepare recommendations to make amendments in law of lawyers, as for the other group, it will prepare amendments for Criminal law code, according to which interference in lawyer’s professional activities will be punished. The “Young Barristers” will start activities in the group concerning issues of lawyer’s institutional security and will prepare amendments package, which will be discussed in executive council of the association.

The “Young Barristers” have been one of the initiators of creating commission of lawyers’ rights in Georgian Bar Association.  The organization announced this offer in elections of Georgian Bar Association of 2013, although the issue only concerned a temporary commission of young lawyers’ rights only.

Head of GBA – Zaza Khatiashvili gave the offer a comprehensive look, which we believe will serve to develop profession and institution of a lawyer.
